For 2025, Kids’ Chance Week has moved from November to October! Taking place October 13-17, this annual event amplifies the important mission of Kids’ Chance of America: to make a difference in the lives of children affected by serious workplace injuries. This year’s theme, Stronger Together, spotlights the tremendous difference individuals and organizations can make through collaboration and determined, positive action.
Since 1988, this worthy cause has helped the children of seriously injured workers—including those who have lost their lives on the job—pursue their educational dreams without financial burden. With a presence in all 50 states, Kids’ Chance organizations have awarded more than 11,000 scholarships totaling over $42 million throughout the past three-plus decades. For the 2024-2025 period, Kids’ Chance was proud to award 734 scholarships totaling $3,146,453.
Kids’ Chance and Paradigm—Impact in action
For more than a decade, Kids’ Chance of America has been Paradigm’s core philanthropic partnership. We’re honored to be the largest corporate sponsor for Kids’ Chance, contributing more than $1.79 million to this cause over more than 14 years. Made up of 29 employees representing 16 states and the national affiliation, the Paradigm Kids’ Chance Community Team regularly organizes and attends fundraisers and events throughout the year.
This year, we were proud to feature Paradigm Case Manager and Kids’ Chance Ambassador Brianna Flynn in a video highlighting her journey at our 2025 CAT Summit. Placed in foster care at a young age, a defining moment in Brianna’s life was losing her adoptive father in the line of duty as a Sheriff’s Deputy. Through the support of Kids’ Chance of California, she was able to attend Cal-State Fullerton, fully embrace college life, and focus on her studies. In addition to the financial help, Brianna is also deeply appreciative of the emotional guidance and life coaching she received from the organization.

Transitioning from a role as a hospital nurse, Brianna is now a Field Case Manager for Paradigm, helping injured workers recover from serious injuries. In her spare time, she is also more than happy to give back to Kids’ Chance, telling her story at events and advocating for the futures of young people impacted by workplace injuries. In a full-circle moment, Brianna was deeply gratified from a recent encounter where she was able to direct an injured worker struggling to pay for their child’s education to the opportunities Kids’ Chance of America provides.
The inspiring impact of Kids’ Chance
The difference that Kids’ Chance makes in the lives of the children of critically injured workers is showcased most effectively in the many amazing stories from scholarship recipients, including those of Arianna and Matt:
After Arianna’s mother, the sole breadwinner of her family, was injured on the job, Arianna began thinking college was an impossibility—that is, until she connected with Debbie from Kids’ Chance of Maryland. From that day forward, Arianna knew that she could rely on Debbie to not only facilitate her Kids’ Chance scholarship and help her reach her educational goals, but to be a supportive mentor and friend. Arianna said, “I feel that in this chaotic world, you need a ray of hope—a ray of sunshine,” she continued. “I feel that that ray of sunshine is in Kids’ Chance.”
Matt’s father was severely injured while on the job as a semitruck driver. His traumatic brain injury left his family with a significant financial gap, but luckily, Matt’s brother had already been involved with Kids’ Chance of Illinois. When it was Matt’s turn to consider next steps after high school, he knew just where to turn. Kids’ Chance still managed to surprise him, even with his brother’s experience to draw from. “I wasn’t expecting them to honestly be as helpful as they were,” Matt explained. Many scholarships do little more than pass out money to their recipients, but Kids’ Chance, on the other hand, brings a whole support system and community to its recipients.
