Kids’ Chance Week, celebrated Oct. 12-16 this year, offers an opportunity to reflect on the important work of this extraordinary organization. This year’s theme, “Future Still Possible: Telling the Stories Behind the Scholarships,” highlights the students, families, alumni, volunteers, and supporters whose lives have been shaped by the Kids’ Chance community.
Since 1988, Kids’ Chance has supported children whose parents have been seriously or fatally injured on the job. While scholarships remain at the heart of that mission, the organization’s impact extends far beyond financial assistance. By helping students pursue their educational goals and connecting them with a community that understands their experiences, Kids’ Chance helps restore possibility and empowers young people to write the next chapter of their story.
To date, Kids’ Chance has awarded more than 12,000 scholarships totaling $46 million, including 725 scholarships worth $3.95 million during 2025-2026 alone.
At Paradigm, we’re proud to help advance that mission and support the people behind the scholarships.
Paradigm and Kids’ Chance make a powerful team For more than 15 years, Paradigm has supported Kids’ Chance of America’s mission to help children of seriously or fatally injured workers pursue their educational goals and build brighter futures. As Kids’ Chance’s largest corporate sponsor, we’ve contributed more than $1.93 million to the organization throughout our partnership.
But Kids’ Chance is about more than scholarships. It creates a community of support, connection, and shared understanding for students and families navigating one of the most challenging times in their lives. Through events, mentorship opportunities, and relationships built across the Kids’ Chance network, students gain encouragement, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
That same spirit of connection is reflected in Paradigm’s Kids’ Chance Community Team, which helps advance the organization’s mission. Made up of 28 members across 16 states, the team supports state and national affiliates, helps strengthen the Kids’ Chance community, and creates opportunities for students and families to connect, learn, and grow together.
Creating more pathways to possibility One of the most meaningful ways Paradigm supports the Kids’ Chance mission is through the Planning for the Future (PFF) program. The referral initiative helps identify and connect eligible students with scholarship opportunities when they turn 16, ensuring more families are aware of the support available to them. This year was PFF’s biggest yet, with Kids’ Chance receiving 403 referrals against a goal of 275. Paradigm team members referred 100 of those families—the most of any organization—helping more students take the next step toward achieving their educational goals.
A new state, a new seat at the table Our partnership also grew geographically. We officially became a Kids’ Chance of Florida Scholarship Partner, committing to support an individual student for all four years of their college journey.
We also added a voice at the national level: Last fall, Paradigm General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, Rashmi Nijagal, was named to the Kids’ Chance of America Board of Directors.
Sharing our support Paradigm representatives continue to share our mission far and wide, including at the Kids’ Chance National Conference in San Diego in April.
Meghan Chisholm, Manager, Clinical Network Projects and Adoption, who also serves as Paradigm’s liaison to Kids’ Chance, moderated the panel discussion, “The Evolution and Alignment of Planning for the Future.” That’s where she shared Paradigm’s playbook for how we’ve made involvement with Kids’ Chance an integral part of our culture and national presence.
Also speaking at the conference was Paradigm Case Manager Brianna Flynn, RN—a former Kids’ Chance of California scholarship recipient. Brianna shared her journey from losing her sheriff’s deputy father when she was seven years old to leaning on Kids’ Chance to earn her college degree and “live the full college experience.” Today, she helps injured workers navigate their own recoveries. It’s the kind of full-circle story that reminds everyone exactly why this work matters. You can see Brianna’s full story here.
Still more to celebrate Our support for Kids’ Chance doesn’t stop with Kids’ Chance Week. During Paradigm’s Catastrophic Clinical Summit, taking place October 16-18, employees will once again come together to raise funds for Kids’ Chance through a company donation program.
As we look ahead to Giving Tuesday and the season of giving, we encourage those who are passionate about helping students and families affected by workplace tragedies to consider supporting Kids’ Chance. Every contribution helps expand access to educational opportunities while strengthening a community built on connection, encouragement, and shared understanding.
