- Complex Care Requires National Reach
Paradigm connects some of the nation's top medical professionals to build the specialized teams required for precise, focused management of complex medical cases. In this network, medical directors, specialists, on-site nurse case managers, and local providers come together to bring targeted expertise to every Paradigm case.
Dedicated Teams Serve Different Case Needs
At the heart of the Paradigm model is a highly integrated, multidisciplinary team separately formed for each case and customized to its unique requirements. The members of the Paradigm Management Team (PMT) include:
- The Director of Clinical Services, the case specific management team leader from Paradigm's senior clinical staff who coordinates development of the management plan and synchronizes financial and clinical services to achieve the contracted outcome.
- The Paradigm Physician, a nationally recognized practicing physician with knowledge and expertise specific to the catastrophic or complex medical event who provide diagnostic expertise, medical review, direction, and quality assurance.
- The Nurse Case Managers, registered nurses specializing in complex care and serving as the primary interface between injured person, provider, and Paradigm. These case managers offer on-site and telephone services as appropriate to the individual case.
- Clinical Specialists who consult on cases requiring additional areas of expertise.
Supporting the PMT is an extensive proprietary data repository containing clinical and cost information for over 8,000 complex medical cases managed by Paradigm. Objective data on demographic, clinical, functional, psychosocial, and financial elements of catastrophic care enables the PMT to create and implement consistent, goal-driven treatment plans.
Though the reach of Paradigm's resources is national, medical care is inherently local. Paradigm calls on a comprehensive provider network, with designated Centers of Excellence and Contracted Facilities across the country, to ensure the highest quality of care for each case.
State-of-the-Art Guidance Sets Higher Standards
Paradigm sponsors two prestigious Scientific and Clinical Advisory Committees composed of national leaders in trauma and burn medicine, the Committees set advanced standards, advise on strategy, and assure the quality of Paradigm clinical processes and products.
Paradigm is also involved in the development of protocols utilizing evidence-based medicine. In 1998, Paradigm sponsored a group of burn surgeons representing the leading burn centers across the country to develop a national set of burn care guidelines. In March, 2000, these Practice Guidelines For Burn Care were accepted by the American Burn Association Board of Directors and were published in a professional journal in 2001. Members of Paradigm's Scientific Advisory Committee and Paradigm Medical Directors have been involved with development of the ABI guidelines for acute management of a head trauma and the SCI clinical guidelines sponsored by the Association of Spinal Cord Injury. Please contact Paradigm for a copy of the guidelines.
